(NOTE: We created this list for the NYS puppy mill contacts; it bears repeating! We are lobbyists every time we pick up a phone, write a letter or hold up a sign ~ Animal Defenders of Westchester)

Thank you for continuing to urge Governor Hochul to sign NYS Animal Protection bills - and any legislator etc who can move animal protection issues forward.

WE ARE ALL LOBBYISTS: Lobbyists are people who inspire political or advocacy decisions on behalf of individuals and organizations; in this case the individuals cannot speak for themselves. YOU CAN LOBBY LEGISLATORS ETC FROM YOUR HOME. Here some points to utilize as effective lobbyists:

1) Be concise.
2) Identify yourself as a constituent (when applicable).
3) State the reason for your call by bill number and/or subject.
4) Ask a specific question or request a specific action.
5) Relate the bill to a local example or problem (also include photos!) State your position as “for” or “against” the bill.
6) Indicate that your vote will depend on the outcome of this signing: "His/Her decision will affect whether she/he gets my vote in the next election" (This step is crucial!)
**NOTE: Phone calls appear to be more effective than emails - but BOTH are crucial!
