" The Second Annual Bozo's Run "
Sunday, September 7, 2008

The Second Annual Bozo's Motorcycle Run was held on Sunday, September 7, 2008. It was hosted by ABATE ("American Bikers Aimed Toward Education") of Columbia County, NY, in memory of "Bozo the Cat" who was a victim of animal cruelty. All funds raised from the ride ($10 per participant plus donations of canned cat and dog food, bleach, laundry detergent, paper towels, dog and cat toys and dog chews) went to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA and Animalkind.

Bozo was 18 year-old cat that fell victim to animal cruelty by a fifteen year boy. The individual was arrested on felony animal cruelty charges. Sadly, Bozo's injuries were critical and Bozo was humanly euthanized. Bozo's human companion was devastated, and his motorcycle buddies provided support during this hard time. Members of the American Bikers Aimed Toward Education ("ABATE") Chapter in Columbia County decided to have a bike "run" in memory of Bozo and to collect donations for the area's mistreated animals. Thus was born "Bozo's Run".

Bozo's Run aims to heighten awareness of animal cruelty, as well as to help fund rehabilitation of animals served by the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA and Animalkind that fall victim to abuse. "It provides a great opportunity for motorcycle enthusiasts in the surrounding area to ride for such a worthwhile cause and ABATE is proud to host this event," said Bob DiRuzzio, President of ABATE of Columbia County.

Animalkind is very grateful to the bikers and ABATE for sponsoring this event.
