Animal Legal Defense Fund
(ALDF)
June 2014
Louisiana law rightfully bans private ownership of tigers and other
dangerous wild animals. There are a few exemptions, but the law itself is
clear. The possession of big cats is inhumane to the animals kept captive,
and dangerous to people.
Exemptions to the ban on dangerous wild animals waste the state’s resources
and put animals in harm’s way simply to accommodate those who want to
confine tigers, bears and other animals for entertainment or profit. In May of 2014 SB 250 passed the Louisiana State Senate and House. The
bill would create additional exemptions for big cat owners in Louisiana. The
bill now goes to the Governor for consideration.
Take action now to ask Governor Bobby Jindal to veto this dangerous bill - SB 250!

First the Louisiana State Senate voted to keep Tony the Tiger captive.
Then the Louisiana State House did the same. Now, with the stroke of a pen,
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal can erase ALDF’s court victories for Tony
and condemn him to a lifetime in his truckstop cage. So now is the time to
pull out all of the stops if we want to free Tony, and we need your help.
I'll make this brief, because time is of the essence. We need you to speak
up for Tony the Tiger today. We have worked long and hard to get Tony moved
from the Tiger Truck Stop to a reputable sanctuary. But we haven't done it
alone. Your voice -- and your financial support -- has enabled us to
continue this struggle.
Thank you for everything you do for animals!
