In September Doreen And I conducted yet another animal blessing Service at Quaystone Chapel, Connahs Quay when worshippers, mostly Methodists and Presbyerians come together to worship the Lord. Indeed, a few Anglicans also attended, including Doreen and myself! Yes, and I have to admit that the love, care and fellowship in both that place of worship - plus a united Reformed church in which Doreen is organist once a month – very much outshines local Anglican fellowships.

The Blessing of a Tiny Dog!

Once again, those animals that came to be blest, were far better behaved than have been many past children! Then, let no one ever tell me that such animals are void of both wisdom* as well as an immortal soul, for I would refuse to believe it. Indeed, the arrogance and chauvinism of so many ‘church folk’ leaves much to be desired. Indeed, whereas near the beginning, Noah welcomed them, two by two, in to his ark, the self-styled ark of salvation today – the church! - would readily boot them out, one by one, as being a source of defilement.

Mind you, there ARE occasions when down the decades animals have been blest, and though hardly ever in a sacred building, they have taken place in the open air. Yes, amongst the fields where hunting dogs - callously trained to kill weaker forms of life than their own - have repeatedly been blest by vicars accompanied by hunters mounted on horseback looking on! Oh yes, and such blatant hypocrisy still goes on today, and not only by clerical males who kow-tow to ‘gentry’, but today: by female clerics whom one would feel should have far more compassion towards the poor victims.

Indeed, such ‘biblical Esau’s!’ are surely the supreme example of human desensitisation? Feminism and inbuilt maternal instincts of compassion appear to have been squeezed out of the very being of such feminist clerics, and if this is not exceedingly dangerous then I honestly don’t know what is.
