I suspect that if you are anything like me, you have
gotten into debates with hunters from time to time - hunters who have told
you that you are over-emotional and have a "Bambi" mentality. I always
wonder what happened to these hunters - what blocked their own emotions
where it applied to animals. Empathy seems to have eluded them. And though
I don't know that Disney can be credited with triggering empathy, it does
occur to me that since so many hunters fear "Bambi" so much, maybe those
of us who do care about the animals would be helping to build a more
empathetic world if we take advantage of Disney's cartoon feature -
"Bambi."
Disney is currently offering one of their periodic
redistributions of "Bambi" on DVD, which is a relatively inexpensive way
to influence the next generation. Buy it now, and you can donate it to
your local school and/or library. Buy one for yourself and invite the
neighborhood children in for a "Bambi" party.
The hunters condemn it, so it must be good, right?
