foie gras, foie, gras, duck, goose, Mugaritz,
Do you remember our investigation into foie gras industry in Europe?

Thanks to your help we have been once again successful with our campaign!

Thanks to the evidence presented by Animal Equality, the Health and Consumer Affairs Department (HCAD) has initiated disciplinary proceedings against Mugaritz - considered to be the third best restaurant in the world. The HCAD has also shut down Momotegi which was the supplying farm - located in the Basque Country - and fined the owner, Olga Posse.

Momotegi supplies foie gras to a restaurant managed by the chef, Andoni Luis Aduriz, who is considered to be the best chef in the world.

The evidence include voice recordings at the Momotegi farm - revealing that Olga Posse admits there failings on the farm, and that the veterinarians and health inspectors turn a "blind eye" to them.

This important goal has been featured by The Guardian and several Spanish media outlets!

These disciplinary proceedings follow other successes in Animal Equality’s campaign against the foie gras industry. The COOP in Italy - one of the largest chains of supermarkets - with over 1,470 outlets, agreed to end the sale of foie gras in October following the investigation. In addition, eight MEPs held a conference in Brussels calling for a ban on foie gras, referencing the Animal Equality investigation and petition.
