Necropsy photos for the horse killed while training on September 6:

horseracing fatal injuries

horseracing fatal injuries

Through a FOIA request to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, I have confirmed the following deaths at that state’s tracks in 2017. The Commission, however, redacted identifying information on the basis of confidentiality (though in some cases I was able to independently identify). Still, this is the first time Kentucky has provided any documentation. Also, please note that when full necropsy information was given, an overwhelming majority were found to have stomach ulcers at death. Stomach ulcers. (Warning: At the bottom of the post, I have included necropsy photos for the horse killed while training on September 6 – they are graphic.)
