More Pro-Bear Letters Needed!

Let's learn to coexist with bears

To the Editor:

This is in response to Bob Condon's recent letter, "Do something about the bears." Bears have absolutely no interest in the children waiting for the school bus, although according to the local news report, there are plenty of child abductors and molesters who are very interested in our children.

He appears to be more concerned about the damage that may occur to his car if he was to hit a bear. How about driving carefully and obeying the speed limit? Yes, the deer and bears do need to cross the road, as well as people, so drive carefully and you should be able to keep your car intact.

People who live in bear country should become more knowledgeable about black bears and how to co-exist with them.

If not, they should move to the city. People have the ability to live practically anywhere on this entire planet, while the black bears do not have that option. Let's learn to share the habitat that allows them to survive.
