December 2006Animal lovers can add their voice to a petition calling for a ban on horse-drawn carriages in New York. The campaign comes after the death of a mare in Central Park and a gelding that hit traffic when spooked earlier this year. The Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages says horses are kept in high rise stalls with no turnout and says allowing horses to operate amid the fumes and traffic is cruel. Visit www.banhdc.org
