STEWART COUNTY, Ga. --
A boating accident on the Chattahoochee in Stewart County has left
two men dead.
According to Corporal Mitch Oliver with the
Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the accident occurred
around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon.
60-year-old Dennis Harris
and 72-year-old Henry Price both died in the crash; a third man
survived.
Corporal Oliver said the fishing boat the men were
riding in took a turn too fast. The driver lost control, hitting the
river bank and then a tree. All three men were ejected from the
boat.
... According to DNR officers, the boat took a turn
too fast.
"They lost control of the boat and hit a tree on
the west side of the river bank, said DNR officer, Captain Jeff
Swift.
All three men on board were thrown into the river.
According to officials one survivor was able to swim to shore and
eventually call for help.
