Saturday, December 6, 2008

SHELBY COUNTY, Ohio -- Shelby County deputies and game wardens from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife are investigating a report of a child wounded in an apparent hunting accident Saturday afternoon in Shelby County.

Houston Rescue Squad and deputies were dispatched to 12181 E. Lockington Rd. near Lockington in mid afternoon on a report that an 8-year-old boy was shot.

CareFlight from Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton was called by paramedics but, due to the snowy weather conditions, the medical chopper was unable to fly.

The boy was rushed to Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.

Other details are lacking as deputies and wildlife officers investigate the shooting.
