Monday, Dec 8th, 2008

A Brookings area man suffered non-life threatening injuries Friday after he was shot in the head and neck in a hunting accident .

Brookings County Sheriff's Department officials have identified the victim as 24-year-old John Feldhacker. Assistant Sheriff Scott Sebring said Feldhacker and 56-year-old Fereidoon Delfanian, of Brookings, were hunting together at a public walk-in area northwest of Brookings.

A pheasant got in between the two when Delfanian shot at it with a shotgun, accidentally hitting Feldhacker. Deputies learned of the shooting when they were called to the Brookings Hospital Emergency Room at 6:15 p.m. Friday. Sebring said no charges will be filed in the accident.
