Associated Press - February 22, 2009 5:34 PM ET
LETTS, Iowa (AP) - A Letts man has been shot while hunting coyotes in
eastern Iowa.
Authorities say he was shot in the upper right arm about 1 p.m. on Sunday
while hunting in Louisa County.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say that
47-year-old Dennis Hiller was putting his rifle over his shoulder when the
sling became unhooked from the gun. The rifle fired when it hit the ground.
Officials say Hiller was taken by helicopter to University Hospitals in
Iowa City where he was undergoing surgery.
His condition wasn't immediately known.
