NH: Hunter Accidentally Shoots Himself
Ossipee, NH (AP) -- Deer hunting season has barely started and there's
already been an accident in New Hampshire.
A man from Somersworth, New Hampshire accidentally shot himself in the
right hand while trying to lift his loaded rifle into a tree stand using the
rope tied around the weapon.
It happened around 1:45 Saturday afternoon in Ossipee.
A state conservation officer says a branch or stick apparently got stuck
in the trigger of Robert Lapointe's muzzleloader, setting it off.
The 63-year old was taken to Maine Medical Center; officials say his
injuries were non-life threatening.
