Local man shot in hunting accident

BEEKMANTOWN — New York State Police are investigating a hunting accident that injured a Morrisonville man. Troopers based in Plattsburgh said Scott Lamare, 35, was shot about 10:45 a.m. Sunday in the lower left leg in a wooded area in the Town of Beekmantown near Florence Jean Lane.

Capt. Robert LaFountain of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation said Lamare was hunting with a group of people and was allegedly accidentally shot by one of them.

Lamare was taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh for treatment of his injuries. He was listed in stable condition there Monday morning.

No criminal charges had been filed as of Monday morning, but the investigation is continuing, with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and New York State Department of Environmental Conservation assisting.
