Hunter shoots self in foot

November 29, 2010

DURHAM - New Hampshire Fish and Game Department Conservation Officers were called to Packers Falls Road at approximately 8:10 a.m. Sunday to investigate a reported hunting accident.

Jeff Criss, 43, of Raymond, was hunting deer alone in the woods off Packers Falls Road. He reportedly saw several deer and was preparing for a shot with a 12-gauge shotgun, he stumbled and while falling to the ground, discharged his shotgun, striking himself in the foot.

Criss was able to walk out of the woods to a residence where he was assisted by the homeowner in notifying the Durham Police and Fire departments. Criss was transported to the Exeter Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The incident is being investigated by the N.H. Fish and Game Department, which provided assistance in the police investigation.
