Officers said the gunshot hit a large stone, causing two pieces
of the bullet to ricochet back and hit Squires in the face.
Indiana Conservation Officers after investigating after a hunter
from Indianapolis was injured in a hunting accident at the
Morgan-Monroe State Forest Wednesday.
Adam Squires, 26, and Ben Shows, 23, were squirrel hunting on a
trail near Rosenbaum Road. Officers said Shows was attempting to fix
his jammed gun when it caused the gun to fire.
Officers said the gunshot hit a large stone, causing two pieces
of the bullet to ricochet back and hit Squires in the face. Squires
was able to drive himself to a Greenwood hospital where he was
treated and released.
Officers said Squires had taken a Hunter Education Class but
Shows never did.
