FOLEY — A 16-year-old Elk River boy shot himself in the foot this
weekend while hunting in Benton County.
The boy was taken to
St. Cloud Hospital and treated for injuries that Sheriff Brad
Bennett said were not life-threatening.
The boy was hunting
in Glendorado Township at about 3:15 p.m. Sunday when the trigger of
his gun got caught on a loop on his hunting vest, according to
Bennett. That caused the gun to discharge into his foot.
The
boy, Brandon Rischmiller, was pheasant hunting at a preserve when
the accident happened, Bennett said.
