THURMONT — The Maryland Natural Resources Police charged two men about
11:35 p.m. Wednesday after they were caught hunting deer on Blue
Mountain Road.
William Lawrence Matthews, 26, of Sabillasville, and Darren Jason
Hudson, 19, of Thurmont, were stopped after police saw a hand-held
spotlight shining out of their vehicle, said Sgt. Ken Turner. Officers
found a .22 magnum rifle, ammunition, a hand-held spotlight and deer
parts.
Hunting deer after dark is illegal and unsafe, Turner said.
Matthews and Hudson were charged with casting rays of artificial
light on fields or woodland while having a weapon in possession capable
of killing deer and possession of untagged deer parts, he said.
