Bird flu chronology
Scientists predict that, H5N1, the bird-flu virus strain, will mutate
and gain the ability to spread easily among humans.
The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, PCRM, stated that
while chickens, ducks and geese are raised in confined and overcrowded
conditions, the $1.9 billion dollars pledged by the US and other nations
to stop the bird-flu, is not going to prove effective. The PCRM is
urging people to stop consuming chicken products, which not only will
help stop the spread of the bird-flu but will make their diet a
healthier one by eating more plan-based foods (www.pcrm.org/news/commentary060123.html).
And while scientists are awaiting the imminent spread of the bird flu
into the western world, one more victim was confirmed in Indonesia last
Wednesday, being the 44th fatal case in that country.
