Matthew 5:7 (RSV)
From Christian Vegetarian Association (CVA)

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

How can we expect mercy when we donít show mercy to the tens of billions of animals raised for food (and this is just land animals!), who suffer unimaginably in factory farms, transport trucks and slaughterhouses?

If we want mercy, we should be merciful; if we want to be loved, we should be loving; even we want to be free, we should not enslave others. It is the golden rule.

How important this message is! Without mercy there cannot be peace on Earth. Mercy must be extended to all of Godís creatures, for if we show it only to humans we cannot possibly expect harmony to reign.

Animal agriculture is an industry that cannot possibly show mercy to animals. By the same token, anyone who supports this industry is not showing mercy to farmed animals either. Therefore, if we truly want to be obedient to God and show mercy to all creatures, adopting a plant-based diet should be a first step.

God calls us to be merciful and compassionate toward all Creation. A plant-based diet is one way to show mercy to animals raised for food.
