Call for Ban of “Downers”
After the largest beef recall in February due to evidence of abuse of downer cows entering the meat supply raising the risk health risk for consumers, major meat and dairy industry groups on Tuesday backed a total ban on downer cattle from entering the food supply petitioning the Agriculture Department to enact a total ban.
