“Fake” Meats Taste Like “Real” Meats

Food science and technology have made it possible to enjoy the taste of animal products without eating animal flesh. “Fake” meats or meat analogs are sometimes so similar in taste and texture to meat from animals that consumers might not be able to tell the difference. This was the case of recalled “fake” curried chicken salad sold at some Whole Foods stores because the labels had been swapped accidentally with the “real” chicken curry salad and customers, who ate it not realizing it was a meat analog, were exposed to soy and wheat inadvertently.

Please visit Fake Meats, Finally, Taste Like Chicken.

Although the combination of legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables in their whole-state allows us to eat delicious and nutritious meals, the emergence of amazing meat analogs makes it easier for many people to transition to a plant-based diet. Really, the excuse of “taste” no longer stands.
