Dear Frank and others:

Some ministers' beliefs are also grounded in the biblical passages which emphasize that the only way to eternal life / heaven is through being saved. Therefore, since animals cannot accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, they believe that they cannot have a soul. I have always found this disturbing as this absolutist view leaves behind those who may have a mental illness, those who may not be capable of accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior due to their level of understanding. (some individuals with a developmental disability perhaps / young children / those who may be in a coma, etc)

I'd love to hear members' thoughts on this
