I do agree with you about the fact that it is wrong to torture innocent animals; however, if you don't torture them and don't purposely try to put them in agony, then I don't see anything wrong with eating animals.
In the Bible God told Abraham and many others to offer a burnt sacrifice to him, and God also gave Peter permission to kill and eat the animals in Acts in Peters dream.
I love animals and hate to see them in pain and to kill them in such a terrible way is awful, but if you do it quickly and painlessly I think it is ok.
Also in the Bible God gets Cain in trouble for not offering a lamb to God but instead offering fruits and vegetables, but God accepted Abel's offering of a sheep.
I am not saying it is wrong not to eat animals. I am fine with that, but I don't think it is wrong if you don't put them in severe pain.
