I always ask what does the Bible say?
Here are some facts. There are 2 types of deer mentioned in the bible, the fallow deer and the Roe deer. Many translations replaced Roe deer with Gazelle. What does the Bible say about hunting?
Gen. 10 "8: And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9: He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD."Gen. "20: And God was with the lad; and he grew, and dwelt in the wilderness, and became an archer."
Gen 25 talks about Esau who was a "skillful hunter" and pleased his father with the wild game.
1st Kings 4:20 - 23 talks of Solomon eating deer. The district officers supplied him his provisions of wild game and God gave him great wisdom.
Lev. "13: And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust."
What did you say?
Some said they don't even consider hunters Christians. Does this mean that you put yourself above God's favored Soloman or Isaac's son Esau?
This is the only reason I even responded to this discussion. A Christian is somebody that confesses their sins and accepts Jesus Christ as their savior. Their spiritual walk will be guided by the seven-fold Spirit and they will be shaped as if they were clay in the potters hands until thier heart is hardened and they nolonger respond to Gods touch.
What do I say?
Be careful how and who you judge, remember "by the same measure you will be judged". How much do you want to burn away in the judgment fire? Read, Read, Read Bind the word of God in your heart, it is in a sense the Key to Heaven. Even your mouth is an overflow of your heart.
Thank you,
Richard Serzy
