Dear Richard:
Try searching on the internet for: Judaism + hunting.
Here's an example:
Rashi (11th century) in his commentary says:
Genesis 10:8 "To be a might one" = To cause the whole world to rebel against the Holy One, Blessed Be He, with the counsel of the generation of mankind. (see chapter 11)
Genesis 10:9 "A mighty hunter" = He captures the minds of men with his mouth, and leads them astray to rebel against the Omnipresent.
"Before the Lord" = To provoke Him in His presence.Genesis 10:10 "Therefore it is said" = Concerning every person who acts wickedly, with insolence, who knows his Master and yet intends to rebel against Him, it is said, this man is like Nimrod, a mighty hunter.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
