Christian Bowhunters of America
Is it really Christian?
Comment by Frank and Mary Hoffman - 18 Jan 2008

Dear Richard:

The situation with money is somewhat different. It the love of money that is the root of many kinds of evil, but money is the mechanism by which commerce functions. It's how we use our money that makes our actions good or evil.

As we've discussed, the concession to eat flesh took away the sin, but at the same time it took away part of our empathy, which is part of love. This means that our love is no longer unconditional, which we strongly believe is part of the curse. Empathy is even further destroyed when a person takes pleasure in the kill; in fact, such a state of being is really sociopathic. This, we believe is the main reason for the Jewish sages to take such a negative stance against hunters, including Esau.

Esau was not considered righteous. In fact, he was considered to be cunning and deceptive. Take a look at what Rashi has to say.

In the Love of the Lord,

Frank and Mary
