I think God is BOTH separate and not separate from us. The problem is the limitations of language. I believe God is in us by Gods spiritual power which gives life truly, but that is not the same as us being God ourselves.
The expression "Spirit of God" is used in different meanings. If we talk of The Spirit of God in the sense Gods personality we do not have it but if we talk of The Spirit of God in the sense Gods love, power, inspiration ,life, energy and so forth I believe a human can have it. There is a very clear distinction between pantheism and theism.
