Dear Scott:
Thank you for responding.
Your reference to Jesus is quite interesting, and we have asked that same question. But from looking closely at the story, the people were obviously eating some animal products, including the fish, and since the boy lovingly offered the fish, Jesus would never hurt his feelings by throwing them away. However, we never hear about how many he multiplied, if he did at all. The only thing we know is that he broke up the bread (the fish wouldn’t break), for the thousands to eat, and that 12 fill baskets of bread were left over (and no fish), which was many time more than the original quantity of bread.
Furthermore, he also drew his disciples away from being fishermen, to be evangelists (fishers of men).
We are absolutely convinced, that God never wanted us to kill or eat any animals.
We look forward to hearing back from you.
In the Love of the Lord,
Frank and Mary
