Dear Marilyn:

We became vegan for reasons of compassion, since there is a huge amount of cruelty and bloodshed in the dairy and egg industries.

Veal, as an example, are a byproduct of the dairy industry (male calves), and cows live only about 20-25% of their normal lifespan, and they are send to slaughter as all other food animals.

All male babies of egg laying mothers are suffocated to death or ground up alive after they hatch because they have no commercial value. And egg laying hens are killed when they are about two years old when they stop laying enough eggs.
