Dear Jeff:
We can relate to the whole outdoor scene. We live on a lake in the woods and have everything you wrote about except the elk and salmon. You should look at the photos we took of the both red and gray fox and deer. We never harm any of them, and delight in taking their photos, and we can photograph them over and over again.
Shooting is not a humane way of killing. If someone insists on killing and eating an animal, they should be euthanized as one does with a terminally ill companion animal.
