By Margaret Lawson World Day for Animals I should like to join Mr. Steen in his appreciation of the publicity
which is accorded to animal welfare by Life + Work. There is an organisation, "The World League Against Vivisection and
for the Protection of Animals" in many countries, with a view to having
the Sunday nearest St. Francis Day (Oct.4th), devoted to services of
thanksgiving and intercession for God's animals, to direct thought on
means of abolishing these wrongs, and to inspire action on behalf of all
suffering animals". This year (European Conservation Year) "World Day for Animals"
actually falls on a Sunday - How wonderful if it would be observed in
