Animal Services where people are encouraged to bring their pets to Church to be blessed seem to be getting very popular these days, but I fear that it may be just a gimmick to get people into church. No church seems to have a constructive attitude towards animal welfare, though I would be delighted to be proved wrong! People don�t seem to see the hypocrisy inherent in asking God to bless the budgie, and then going home to a Sunday dinner of battery reared chicken. It can not be coincidence that many young people are turning to oriental cults which, like the Buddhists, preach respect for all life, when our own established churches consistently ignore this problem.
