Savagery

When, oh when, is the Church going to raise its voice against animal cruelty? The Spanish fiestas have begun, many having religious origins, when frequently helpless creatures are tormented, tortured and mutilated by men, women and children in orgies of savagery.

There is a different fiesta for each month (except May and October) and February saw the turn of the gentle little donkey. We understand there are no tears in heaven, but if there are they must surely be on the cheeks of St. Francis.
