但し、2008年４月現在、ソウル市長によって再び、合法化推進の動きが浮上中です。

・韓国政府に、衛生管理政策を通した事実上の犬肉売買合法化を中止するよう、あなたの請願を送って下さい　(KARA) 。決して韓国は残酷な国だとか、韓国人はひどいというような内容は送らないでください。この問題について、完全合法化について、どう感じるのか、中止をお願いするということでメールを送ってください。

韓国政府へ下記の内容を書いて送ってください。。

・犬肉売買を合法化する試みを一切やめる。
　Please stop legalizing dog meat.

・すべての犬と猫を「コンパニオン・アニマル」とする定義を含める。
Please add article which define all dogs and cats as companion animals.

・現在と将来の動物保護法を強化する
Please tighten up on current and future animal law.

・市場と地方のすべての犬と猫を保護する
Please protect all dogs and cats in market and countryside.

・食用と薬用の犬猫の屠殺と販売に、明確な罰則を導入する
Please introduce clear penal-rule to slaughtering and sales of  dogs and cats for food and for medicine.

・犬肉と猫肉製品の神話的通念について国民を教育する
Please educate citizen on mythical belief  for eating dogs and cats as well as the products made by them.

We have learned from our Korean colleagues that Prime Minister of South Korean announced the Korean Government’s Official Policy to make the killing of dogs for human food consumption legal. Also, the South Korean Government is revising the Animal Protection Law to

It is our understanding that under current Korean law dogs are not specified as "livestock" for human food consumption, hence the slaughter of dogs for human food consumption is NOT LEGAL.

Is it the intention of the Korean Government to use the pretext of protecting the public’s health to make the Black Market Practice of killing dogs for human food a legally condoned activity?

While the Korean people are taking dogs into their homes as companions by the millions, does Korean Government really believe those millions of Koreans want their government to legalize the killing of dogs for food?

All over the world, government policy has been to reduce the number of animals that are killed for human consumption, not to mention the banning of dog meat. Is it true that the government of South Korea intends to stand-alone against the overwhelming tide of world opinion?

We formally request that your government stop pursuing this regressive policy and furthermore, we strongly urge your government to join other Asian countries that had already made the consumption of dog meat illegal.

（日本語）韓国の総理大臣が、人間の食用に犬を殺すのを合法とする、韓国政府の正式な政策を発表したと、私たちは韓国の同朋から教えてもらいました。また、韓国政府が動物保護法を見直そうとしている・・・・

私たちの知るところでは、韓国の現行法では、犬は人間の食料消費用の｢家畜｣として指定されてはおりません。ゆえに人間の食用に犬を屠殺するのは合法的ではありません。

公衆衛生の保護を口実に使い、人間の食物用に犬を殺す闇市場の習慣を、法的に許された仕事にする韓国政府の意図なのでしょうか。

数百万人もの韓国の人々が、犬をコンパニオンとしている一方で、この数百万の人々が食用に犬を殺すことを、合法化してもらいたがっていると、政府は本当に思っているのでしょうか。

世界中で、行政の政策は人間の食用に殺される動物の数を減らしており、犬の肉は言うまでもありません。韓国の政府は世界中の世論の圧倒的な高まりに対して、本当に孤立するつもりなのでしょうか。

私たちは、貴政府がこの後退的な政策の採用をやめることを正式に要請し、さらに貴政府が、すでに犬肉の食用を違法とした他のアジアの国々に加わることを強くお勧めいたします。
