"Joyful Curmudgeon" An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the same
time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel
called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
Simply writing this Blog heading filled me with sadness. I will try to write my thoughts as best I can.
When feeling overwhelmed, I turn to Bible scriptures for comfort. It is difficult to not seek revenge on evildoers; but, then, vindictiveness means stooping to the level of the enemy.
If people allow themselves to become fearful and vindictive, they are in effect giving credit to the enemy’s tactics. And Ephesians 2:2 makes it clear who the real enemy is: “…the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons [or daughters] of disobedience….” – in other words, Satan or the devil.
That’s why it’s important to turn to God for answers. Jesus made it clear that one must be “like a little child” and that we must “walk as children of light.” He taught us to be peacemakers.
Luke 18:16-17
16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.
17 Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." ~ New King James Version
Ephesians 5:8-11
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. ~ New King James Version
