Letter to the FDA about Alternatives to Testing on Animals - 16 Apr 2008Letter to the FDA about Alternatives to Testing on Animals - 16 Apr 2008
Andrew C. von Eschenbach, M.D., Commissioner U.S. Food and Drug Administration 5600 Fishers Lane Rockville, MD 20857
Dear Dr. von Eschenbach:
We urge the Food and Drug Administration to please mandate the use of validated alternatives to animal tests. Doing this would result in safer drugs for American consumers since animal testing is not as reliable as the alternatives. A drug that appears safe in animal tests may be dangerous to humans, or the opposite may be true: drugs that are deemed dangerous to animals may be safe for humans.
We look forward to your reply. You can contact us at the address in this letter.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Frank L. Hoffman
