John 17:3 New American Standard Bible
3. This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent
When we first meet someone ,it is somewhat awkward. we don't know what the other person is about or all the particulars like what they expect from us or what will offend them or other various issues. This is the same when we first meet Jesus. It is a relationship that stands alone in that God is like no other. we have our preconceived ideas as to why people act or react the way they do, but there is no visual so we don't automatically know how God would react to any given situation.
It is through daily encounters with God where we are met with His characteristics. God is eternal and How He responds to us is always perfect and always righteous. We have to discover what the reality is about God and that happens in fellowship.
The bible can give us understanding of certain things about God, but it is through ineraction that we experience what the bible is saying. It is written in scripture that God is love, but if we had unloving parents than love is a nebulus thought or feeling. It is not until God reveals His love to us that we understand what that means. This includes every single aspect of God. He continually surprises us with His unwavering faithfulness and obvious desire to be close to us regardless of how we have messed up. It takes time to really filter that through our heart.
Every uphill climb, every moment of lonliness and uncertainty; every quiet wondering and being unsure of the next step to take, keeps us focused on a Jesus,
We must become familiar with God; It is what gives us intimacy. This process involves many changes, repairs and emptying ourselves so that control is slowly being taken out of our character. This opens us up to grasping the deeper meaning of who God is. This is our goal; to know God; to be familiar with Him and his ways so that we can live in this world unafraid and strong when the storms pound against our life. We will not be led into a dark place because we will know His faithfulness. Our thoughts and beliefs will fall in line with God's thoughts and beliefs. Our feelings and emotions will be balanced and healthy. This is peace.
God bless

The purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
