Proverbs 29:25 Common English Bible

25 People are trapped by their fear of others;
those who trust the Lord are secure.

At a young age we learn how to feel about ourselves and others.   If we have unhealthy parents or guardians who are self-centered and poised to ultimately benefit their own desires and comforts, we learn to be self-centered or even the opposite can occur; Instead of becoming selfish the child could learn that everyone else is more important than they are.

A parent with good self-esteem and a strong healthy sense of their value will teach their child to be compassionate and kind and strong.

Romans 12:3 New International Version

3. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

God knows the destructive link between fearing people and losing oneself in the process.

Those who will bend to any demand of another are viewed as people pleasers.  Fear motivates and rules them to submit to the pressure of others. They are targeted victims of those who seek power and control.  They are not only ruled by these people, but also by the demonic spirits attached to those people who dominate other human beings.

God gives us a very realistic and simple answer to this dilemma.   In order not to be trapped or fearful of others, we are to trust the Lord and find our security in Him.  It is in healing of past hurts and being healed of soul wounds that our freedom is revealed. It is within our ability at that time to open the doors of the prison we made for ourselves in bowing to another person’s demands.

We must focus our entire attention upon God and giving Him the praise and adoration He deserves.

When we seek God’s face and desire His will, all other desires or fears fade and the facade we built around us peels away little by little until the heart is healed and the damage reversed.  When people are rescued from abusive situations where they are oppressed by the whims of another at the point of fearing, they become that strong and confident person they were supposed to be.

Challenge:  If you find yourself feeling afraid of another person seek healing for your soul.

God bless,

Marni

lamb-rightThe purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
