Proverbs 3:5-6 New King James Version

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Most of us have heard this verse at least once.  Our trust in the Lord is paramount to our spiritual,  as well as to our emotional and physical survival.

God is asking us to present our hearts to Him open and completely vulnerable.

When we surrender to God, we put ourselves in a position that gives us a better perspective into His plans for our lives.  God is the only one who knows and understands why our life is going in the direction it is.   Many times we try to put on the brakes only to see that the momentum of the circumstances has pulled us forward.   These are the times we feel as if we are spinning out of control.   But God is not spinning out of control.  He is solid and strong in the moment and nothing can pull Him under. So hang on to Him.

The way we hang on to God is by acknowledging Him; giving all situations over to Him good or bad.  Our  life is not about us and giving our lives to Christ means to forfeit any ownership of our destination. God has a plan and a purpose for the life He created us for and for us.  He doesn’t mind sharing the plans as long as we do not try to intercept and take over.  When we do He is faithful to protect us from ourselves and the need we feel to be in control.  If He allowed us to take over we could destroy all He created for us and for us to do.

Sometimes God allows us to experience a little bit of our own stubborn ways, and we find out very quickly that it’s not going to work.  In fact,  our abilities lead us into a big deep hole;  With our own decisions we sabotage the good things God has for us.    How in the world do we think we could make plans for our future when we have no idea what tomorrow has in it’s wake of windy roads and twists and turns called unexpected circumstances that we did not and could not foresee?

God knows the end from the beginning. He is not afraid of the enemy trying to destroy our lives, but He surely is concerned with us being so strong willed that we become determined to make things work in our own way; in our time.

God wants to show us our path with the awareness we need. It is His intention to reveal all the potholes and bumps in the road.  He also wants to show us the pebbles of blessings along the way.  God wants to be involved in every aspect of our lives.   He wants to travel this road with us and participate in every step as we go.    God knows the past, the present, the future and He knows exactly what must happen to get us where he wants us to be.  He is not anxious because whatever situation we’re in, He can handle it.

Challenge:   When you’re in a frightening or stressful situation say to Him,  Lord, you are my protector and provider.  I trust you and believe you already have a solution. Speak it out loud so that you can hear your confession.

God bless

lamb-rightThe purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
