Psalm 133:1   Complete Jewish Bible

Oh, how good, how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in harmony.

When God first created the human race, The intention was for His people to live in unity. As one nation under His umbrella of peace.  He designed us to have fellowship with Him and others, knowing we would need help in achieving this kind of harmonious life together. He not only knows our weakness, but designed us with vulnerabilities in order to keep us dependent upon Him.  In this dependence is the certainty that we will live a blessed life, protected in His victory and united as one.

Many times in scripture there is reference to being one in Spirit; this oneness was characterized in the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.  Jesus wanted this for His followers.  This kind of unity is extremely important to God and should be to us.  God is peace and wants peace between us.  As a relational being, He brought us into this world to have relationship with Him and each other; The sacrifice of Jesus made this possible.  To God it is endearing to see His children moving in one direction and standing as brothers and sisters who belong to the same family.  From a relationship with God our hearts are inspired to reach out towards people.  In this united  strength we are able to be strong against the enemy.  This can only happen in a  relationship with God and as this relationship extends to others.  An encounter with God will always lead to forgiveness and freedom.  This must be our way of life to walk with God and others in harmonious peace. Jesus did this quite easily because He was and is One with the Father. His relationship with God was first and foremost and branched out into His interactions with people.

Challenge:  Bathe your soul in the presence of God. Sit quietly and attentive in His presence and wait.

God bless

lamb-rightThe purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
