Psalm 33:18 New Living Translation
But the Lord watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his unfailing love.
This verse is about trusting God. To fear God is to be in reverent awe of Him and who He is.
Those who believe Him are those who keep themselves in His presence where He can watch over us. It is not that God does not watch over even non-believers, because it says in the bible
Matthew 5:45 (NIV)
He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous..
He is God; He sees all and knows all. His focus is on His children just as any loving parent’s focus is on their own children, even though, if in places where there are many children, any parent would be likely to help another person’s child if they got hurt, He helps those who are not His, hoping they give themselves into His hands.
it is about being in a position of surrender to Him and in His will which always keeps us safe. Teenagers who sneak out of the house, cannot be protected by their parents once they have left the safety of their parents protection. This leaves them vulnerable to their surroundings.
It is the same for us. We move away from our umbrella of protection when we are rebellious or speak negative and self defeating words, or when we follow our own will. There are many ways to leave the safe dwelling of our Savior. He never moves away from us.
It may feel like He has left us but we feel that way when we are steeped in depression, fear, and anxiety which slowly draws us away from trusting God. We sometimes blame Him for our pain and discomfort which will pull us away even more.
It is in the hard times, the easy times; the wilderness and in the waters of pleasure where we have to keep ourselves aligned with God and believing that He is good and has a good plan for us.
We must keep our eyes solely upon Him and trust His love that never fails.
It is very difficult doing this and God even promises we will have troubles, but these troubles are never faced alone. We face them with God with us.
His love is too real, too deep and too unconditional for it to fail.
Prayer: Lord we come to you and ask that you reveal your love to us in a real way. A way that is tangible and all encompassing. Help us to hold onto your hand and let fear pass by in the name of Jesus
God bless

The purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
