Thanksgiving Verse
This collection of verse began at our Board Meeting on 22 Sep
2002 while we were planning our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. You are
welcome to add your short poem to this collection.
We don't serve the breast,
We don't serve the thigh;
To grace our Thanksgiving table,
No animal will die.
~Roberta Schiff
Turkeys are blessed,
'Cause we treat them as guests.
~Frank L. Hoffman
Our turkeys won't be blue,
This Thanksgiving 2002.
~Rae Schlecht
At our Thanksgiving Dinner,
The turkey is a winner!
~Frank L. Hoffman
Turkeys we don't breed,
For vegans have no need.
~Frank L. Hoffman
With
profound apologies for an appalling piece of verse - which I couldn't
resist writing, but which has convinced me to stick to prose in future!
Gobble,
gobble, turkey dinner
If it's the turkey gobblin' you ain't no sinner
Turkey, turkey, eat away
If you're still chompin' there's no debt to pay
Sentient friend, come join our kin
We'll knock the stuffin' out of the peas, potatoes and pumpkin.
Yeah, yeah, I know, get back to writing in a genre where I'm not quite so
incompetent!!
~Rod Preece - 24 Sep 2002
We look forward to
hearing from you
