Winter Issue - 2003-2004
Buy at Community Supported Agriculture Farm (CSAs)
This was written before winter began. We already had two big snows before the solstice. Many of us miss the fresh produce we were able to get at local farmers' markets. Another way to get fresh produce if you do not grow it yourself, is to buy a share in a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). The CSA movement allows people to buy direct from growers.
Shares are sold before the growing season, and participants pick up their foods weekly. We are gathering information on CSAs in the Mid-Hudson Valley. We will have this information posted on our website, www.MHVS.org , along with cost and sign-up information.
You can help by informing us of any CSAs and organic farms in your area.
