In a recent article entitled “Some Animals Are More Equal Than Others” in The New York Times, Mark Bittman addresses our society’s schizophrenic approach to other animals [let us not forget, humans are animals too].. If we raise them to become food [and I might add, hunt them, or use them for clothing or entertainment] it’s OK that we torture them; skin them or crush them alive; or otherwise cause them pain — we have our blinders on and are desensitized.. It’s taken years for the truth about our selective cruelty to animals to gain traction. Thank you Mark Bittman for your unwanted but welcome truth-telling.
