On March 26th several families and their kids came to the MHVS Youth Group Toys For Tails event held at the Starr Library in Rhinebeck, NY.  The goal of the event was to make cat and dog toys for local animal shelters, and to bring together vegetarian parents and kids.  We made two different types of cat toys as well as fleece braided pull toys for dogs.  All in all the youth group was able to make over 125 toys for shelter animals!  Lisa Rieckermann, co-founder of Purrfect Companions Cat Rescue attended the event with her children and was happy to take the 75 cat toys we made to benefit the cats in her rescue.  The dog toys will be distributed to several animal shelters in the area.  The MHVS Youth Group was started in November of 2009 and has had many events that foster compassion in kids and bring vegetarian families together.  If you are interested in learning more about our youth group and would like to be notified of upcoming youth group events please email mhvsyouthgroup@yahoo.com.
