HISTORY OF HORSES IN NEW YORK CITY

“Carriage Horses” are a hold over from another time. But it was never a time of civility and romance – that is both a fantasy and a lie to promote the present carriage horse industry. These idyllic conditions never existed. Read the truth about the history of horses in NYC – how the horses lived a life of drudgery, neglect and abuse – they were often beaten. And if they died they were left on the street as so much garbage. It is past time that the City of New York treated these gentle giants as the wonderful sensitive creatures they are.
