The Coalition for New York City Animals is a 501 (c) (4) not-for-profit corporation concerned about all sentient creatures and dedicated to improving the lives of New York City animals through legislative efforts and fostering, promoting and disseminating information concerning all animal protection issues.  The Coalition was founded and incorporated in 1995.

Currently, our main focus in on the horse drawn carriage industry in New York City.  We are a member of the Coalition to Ban Horse Drawn Carriages, formed in January 2006 in response to the most recent tragic accident concerning Spotty, a carriage horse, who was so badly injured after colliding with a car, he had to be euthanized.   There have been many accidents over the years, but this one represented the deciding factor in turning public opinion against this industry.   Please click on the link above for more information.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  Mahatma Gandhi

"Cowardice asks the question, Is it safe? Expediency asks the question, Is it politic? Vanity asks the question, Is it popular? But conscience asks the question, Is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must take it because his conscience tells him that it is right."  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself know peace.”  Albert Schweitzer

“He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetrate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it.”  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”  Margaret Mead

“The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look and do nothing.”  Albert Einstein

“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”  Edmund Burke
