(Red Squirrel, American (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) - 01)  We had been watching the red squirrels running around the Norway spruce, mulberry, and cottonwood trees, but had been unable to get any pictures.  They always seemed to be in motion or hidden from our view.  Then one day this red squirrel came and sat on one of the branches of the cottonwood tree to pose for this series of pictures.  A real blessing!

(Red Squirrel, American (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) - 02)  For some time, as we took these pictures, this red squirrel and Mary and I just watched each other.  We all seemed to be enjoying each other's company.  If only our human society would learn to truly appreciate the other creatures God has given us to be our companions, without our evil intent of harming and killing.

(Red Squirrel, American (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus) - 04)  There is something preciously beautiful about the other creatures that occupy this planet with us.  If we take the time to get acquainted, as we have been doing with this red squirrel, we discover that each of them has his or her own personality.  Our greatest commandment is to love God with every part of our being; and if we truly do, then we will also love each other, the other animals God created to be with us, and our environment, and we will do no harm.  To do otherwise is proof of our lack of love of God.

(Red Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) - 05)  Our thanks goes to John Selkirk who sent this and the following set of red squirrel photos to us with the note: "Please find attached a few shots which I took at our Camping Site, which is in Sotau Germany. These are all based upon my wife leaving nuts around the place for them to eat and also to try and attract them to us in order to take some photographs, they are lovely looking creatures. We sit for hours waiting and watching, it is so peaceful."
